Inspection scope

What the certificate records

The engineer records the installation inspected, relevant appliances, safety checks, defects and recommendations within the booked service scope.

The certificate or gas safety record does not guarantee that every future fault has been prevented, and it does not replace routine servicing and maintenance.

Service boundaries

What is not automatically included

Inspection prices do not automatically include appliance servicing, replacement parts, repairs, installation work, ventilation alteration, interlock repair or reinspection.

Additional work must be agreed separately unless the selected service expressly states that it is included.

Certificate FAQs

Commercial gas certificate questions

What is the difference between CP42 and CP44?

CP42 is generally used for fixed commercial catering premises. CP44 is used for mobile catering units such as trailers, vans and food trucks. The correct inspection depends on the installation and how the business operates.

Is a commercial gas certificate a legal certificate?

The engineer issues a commercial gas safety record or certificate appropriate to the inspection completed. The record documents the installation, checks and findings but does not replace the duty to maintain appliances and gas systems safely.

Does the certificate include repairs?

No. The inspection price does not automatically include repairs, replacement parts, servicing or remedial work unless expressly stated.

What happens if the installation is unsafe?

The engineer records the defect and explains the required next action. Unsafe appliances or installations may need to remain out of use until remedial work and reinspection are complete.

Can a mobile catering unit use a CP42 certificate?

A genuinely mobile catering unit will normally require the mobile catering inspection route. Contact GetGasCert before booking when a unit is permanently installed, semi-permanent or used in an unusual way.

Can an LPG commercial kitchen use CP42?

A fixed commercial kitchen using LPG may still fall under the fixed-premises certification route, subject to the installation and the attending engineer holding the correct LPG and catering competencies.
